This position assists professional engineers and higher-level technicians in materials testing in the DOTD District 04 Laboratory. The technician performs and maintains a wide range of materials testing and laboratory equipment across soil, asphalt, aggregate, concrete, and field operations; enters and retrieves testing data using MATT or SM Materials; coordinates with Project and Area Engineer offices to verify project finals, sampling plans, and Federal Independent Assurance testing requirements; and assists with field activities such as drill rig operations and roadway core collection. The technician also attends required training, provides training and assistance to less experienced staff, performs additional duties as directed, and may support emergency or disaster operations. Starting salaries by level include optional pay of $2.00 per hour worked.
