This position is responsible for assisting professional engineers and/or higher-level technicians in the performance of construction inspection work. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans. Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates. Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager). Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites. Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification.
